Award-winning artist Gavin Gribben is a twenty-year-old singer who is making waves on the Country and Irish music scene all across Ireland and further afield. This budding young artist from Mayobridge, a little village nestling in the foothills of the Mourne Mountains in Co Down, has much to sing about! Gavin has been winning singing competitions since the tender age of four. The maxim that “Nothing succeeds like success” is certainly true of Gavin’s musical trajectory since his initial victory as a four-year-old.
Furthermore, Gavin is fortunate to come from a highly musical family, dating back three generations, a family that cherish and nurture the magical beauty of Irish and Country Music in all aspects. This music has always played a prominent role in his young life. It is part of his DNA.
Before long, Gavin won titles in numerous feis competitions, talent competitions, All-Ireland Fleadh, and in 2016, was the All-Ireland Champion in Scór na nÓg which took place in the INEC Killarney.
The stage performance multiplied, not only in feiseanna, Fleadh Cheoils, Scór na nÓg and talent competitions, but also on National Radio and Television. The accolades poured in and this young man from the Mournes was fast becoming a national sensation on the music scene. His first radio performance (at the age of 7) was followed by a myriad of others such as BBC Radio Ulster, Q Radio and RTE, Irelands National TV Channel. Appearing on television at the age of eleven was yet another watershed moment for the young artist. By now he was growing in confidence and artistry and his childhood passion was taking wings.
In 2018 Gavin released his debut studio album called “Living the Dream”, aptly named as he was by now, in truth “living the dream”. This carefully crafted inspirational album included many of the nation’s favourite songs such as “The Streets of London”, “The Town I loved so well” and “The Old Man”. This album has been a rapturous success, capturing the hearts of Country Music lovers far and wide and gleaning outstanding appraisals.
Since then, he has released a debut single, “Belfast Mill” – a track from his debut album, with a music video which has reached over 130,000 views on various platforms such as Facebook, Youtube, Spotify and iTunes. This has also aired on TV channels such as Hot Country TV and Spotlight TV.
Still in his teens, this young man has already established himself as a serious songster on the music scene. In 2019 he had the honour of doing support for Irish Country Music’s golden boy, Derek Ryan, at the Carlingford Oyster Festival and is currently on the line-up for festivals such as the famous Moynalty Country Music Festival in Co. Meath, and Enniscrone Country Music Festival in Co. Sligo.
In early 2020, before the Lockdown, he was a guest artist at the Northern Ireland Country Music Awards, and in 2022 won the award for his new single, Find the Right Girl.
During Lockdown Gavin has not sat on his laurels but has worked assiduously, seizing the hiatus to increase his repertoire and “fine tune” his skills even further. Thanks to modern technology, it was a golden opportunity to reach a global audience and he grabbed it with both hands. He carried out several Facebook Livestreams and Videos, many of which reached 70,000 views and counting…..
Currently, Gavin is continuing to pursue his music career, studying music at degree level in DkIT, Dundalk.
